Week 14 Window Outside 窗外

新冠病毒何時了?慘烈知多少。

Everything in the world is connected together.

In chaos theory, the butterfly effect describes the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state.  In English, it means one small incident can have a big impact on the future.  Every tiny decision or action we made or did, no matter how small, let it be as small as a butterfly’s wings flap, it WILL have an unimaginable effect on something or someone else later. The COVID-19 impact on the entire world reminds me of this effect.

What if the discovery of the virus in Wuhan’s wild animal market was handled differently?  What if the US responded to the pandemic more promptly?  What if the beaches in Florida were closed sooner?  What if the CDC made its recommendations differently?  What if you and I started to wear masks from the beginning?

At this point, I stay at home all of the time, looking for the butterfly, and wish that it had never flapped its wings.
